2021 Here We Come
We all want 2021 to be a much different year than 2020 was, and it’s clear turning the page on the kitchen calendar hasn’t swept away all the worries and challenges we’ve faced through these last ten plus months. But looking ahead to how we want this new year to go, one thing we can do is focus on the good things in our lives. All of them. Everyone has blessings to count.
Family we treasure, friends we laugh with, neighbors who watch out for us. A nice home, a safe neighborhood, a dependable vehicle. A good job, a supportive church, all the friendly and helpful people in our grocery stores, doctors’ offices, schools and daycares. These people really are anywhere we go for our needs.
We don’t all have all those things. Some of us are more fortunate than others, and our fortunes can change over time. But wherever we are in our journey, there are things to be thankful for. Even the things that sometimes feel like a burden are blessings. You know the ones I mean…
Car needs new tires?
Yes! Not everyone is lucky enough to have a reliable vehicle.
Lawn needs mowing or the driveway needs shoveling?
Great! A nice home to be proud of is gratifying.
Kids, partner, parents seem to have endless need of your time and energy?
It’s a true blessing to have loved ones. So many are alone in this world.
I’m not crazy about New Year’s Resolutions, but I have a couple of intentions for this fresh new year. The first is to be more mindful of the good things around me every day and to feel grateful for them. The big ones, the small ones, and even the tiny ones. The other is to make sure I make getting enough (more!) sleep.
How about you?
Let’s make 2021…
healthy
happy
abundant
peaceful
back-to-normal
successful
focused
fun
well-rested
Happy New Year!
