Bed Making Competition
Can you imagine being judged on your bed making skills? Like in an official bed making competition. Not just when your mother-in-law comes to visit. Ouch!
Bed making has become a topic of considerable discussion in recent years.
Do you, or don’t you make your bed?
Do you meticulously smooth sheets and tuck blankets? Are you a pillow fluffer? Does your finished bed show off a perfect array of decorative pillows in all shapes and sizes? Or do you straighten everything up as best you can in 30 seconds and then pull a nice, thick comforter over it to cover your lack of time or bed making skills?
Life coaches and experts like Tim Ferriss tell us that making your bed first thing in the morning, before doing anything else, is the best way to start a productive day. Is that true?
Where do I sign up?
No matter where you land on the above questions, the real question is, would you be up for competing against real-life bed making professionals?
Personally, I’m going to remain a spectator in these bed making competitions. My bed looks pretty darn good to me each morning after I’ve made it, and I can do it in just a minute or two.
What I can’t do is what bed making champions do. They can make a bed from bare mattress through base sheet, fresh duvet cover, and pillowcases in just under two and a half minutes. Like this champion bed maker in Japan:
China and Jordan also hold bed making competitions, and probably other countries do as well. In the United States they are just one category in what is called the Housekeeping Olympics.
Even Martha Stewart is in on the competition.
So, what do you say?
On your mark, get set, GO!
